The 17 Competencies

How to read your ADI Part 3 test report

Your emailed report scores all 17 competencies. Read it in a fixed order: risk management first, then your lowest section, then your 0s and 1s.

A five-step read

  1. Check the risk management total. 7 or less failed you on its own.
  2. Find your lowest section as a share of its maximum (12, 15 or 24).
  3. List every 0 and 1.
  4. Look for a root cause. Examiners score consistently, so linked competencies tend to move together.
  5. Match the examiner's remarks to the scores: they record specific examples from your lesson.

What the examiner won't tell you

Examiners give evidence, not coaching. DVSA guidance says it's your trainer's job, not theirs, to tell you what to do differently.
