The ADI Part 3 marking sheet, explained
The examiner uses DVSA's Part 3 report form: 17 questions in three groups, each scored 0 to 3. You get a copy of your completed report by email.
The three groups
| Group | Competencies | Maximum |
|---|---|---|
| Lesson planning | 4 | 12 |
| Risk management | 5 | 15 (need 8+) |
| Teaching and learning strategies | 8 | 24 |
What the scores mean
DVSA's examiner guidance defines each score: 0 means no evidence of competence, 1 a few elements shown, 2 most elements, 3 all elements.
How examiners use it
Examiners are told to score consistently, because the competencies are linked. For example, if you never found out the pupil's goals, your lesson structure can't score well either. The form is the same one used for the Standards Check.
