The 17 Competencies

Guides / Part 3 essentials

What to take to your ADI Part 3 test

You must bring a pupil, a suitable car, and your trainee licence (or your UK driving licence or a passport). Forget any of them and the test is cancelled and you lose the fee.

Your pupil

A partly trained learner, a fully trained learner or a full licence holder. A partly trained learner should be able to drive for 40 minutes without stopping often. Your pupil can't be an ADI or someone preparing for their own Part 3. Have a backup pupil.

Also useful

Your pupil's training record, to show where today's lesson fits. Your trainer can come with you and listen to the feedback, but can't take part.

See the car rules.
