ADI Part 3 lesson ideas: how to choose
The best Part 3 lesson is a normal lesson built on your pupil's real needs, with room to show progress in 40 minutes and enough going on to show all 17 competencies.
Themes on the form
The report form lists common lesson themes, including junctions, town and city driving, dealing with other road users, faster roads, defensive driving, mirrors, rural roads, motorways and eco-safe driving. You can choose something else too.
Three rules
- Not a whole-lesson manoeuvre (a short recap is fine).
- Nothing that relies on legal exemptions, such as emergency-services training.
- Close enough to the test centre to be back on time.
What makes a strong lesson
The goal comes from the pupil, there's room to progress, and there's some real-world risk to manage and debrief.
