Choosing your pupil for ADI Part 3
Bring a pupil you know well, who has a genuine learning need and will behave naturally with an examiner in the back seat.
Who's allowed
A partly trained learner, a fully trained learner or a full licence holder, but not an ADI or anyone preparing for their own Part 3.
Each type's needs
| Pupil | Typical need | Watch out for |
|---|---|---|
| Partly trained | Wider range of roads; basic skills | Patronising them |
| Nearly test-ready | Realistic view of risk; scanning; reflection | Overconfidence |
| New full licence holder | Roads their test didn't cover | Re-teaching the driving test |
| Experienced driver | One specific goal | Unsafe habits |
Brief them
Tell your pupil to behave exactly as normal, and that the examiner is checking your teaching, not their driving.
