Assessment drives on ADI Part 3

If you haven't taught the pupil before, DVSA guidance allows a short assessment drive before you agree the lesson plan.

How to use one

Keep it short. It should show you the pupil's level and give you something concrete to discuss when agreeing the goal. Leave enough time for the actual lesson, feedback and reflection.

If you already know the pupil

Agreeing the plan should normally take seconds. A quick recap of the goal you agreed last time, checked with the pupil, does the job.
